A copper watering can exudes a wonderful charm reminiscent of days gone by when hand watering was the only type of plant watering available to people. They have a natural look of antiquity. The tradition of watering with a pitcher like container has continued through the years because in many situations, it is the smartest way to water.

Watering young plants in particular is a delicate procedure that requires getting enough water down to the roots without disturbing the soil and therefore exposing the roots. The gentle spray from a copper watering can (with the correct rose attached) will create just the light rain needed for the seedlings.

There are several other situations when hand watering is the best choice and many other advantages for using a copper watering can. One such advantage is that they don’t waste water like sprinklers or other watering system; they put water only where desired without excess amounts being wasted on weeds.

Yet even though a copper watering can is a useful apparatus, it is also very pleasant to look at and makes a wonderful accent piece. The copper metal work of these cans can often illicit a gentle spray of fond memories of times gone by when life was more simple…
