Making a Home Halloween Graveyard

Everyone love Halloween, and for many different reasons. One of the best parts of Halloween is decorating your house. And sometimes the best decorations are not the most elaborate but the ones that are most thought out and well placed. One of the simplest themes is the graveyard because it doesn’t entail a whole lot of work but works so well. Often the best yards are done up as a grave yard and let the simplicity of it take hold.

As stated the grave yard is a simple theme to set up in your yard but will take some planning so do not leave it for the last minute otherwise it will be rushed and you will lose the effectiveness of the whole scene.

Your fist step is going to be deciding where you are going to do it, back yard or front. This is going to be dependant on space and your overall design.

Secondly you are going to have to get some Halloween tombstones. These you can make very easily out of Styrofoam insulation or out of cardboard, remember the better designed the small things are the better the overall presentation. You can by these from a store but it may be best to make them as you can design them yourself and set up a theme among them.

Once you have your tombstones you are going to want to set the stage, this will include your various spider web among the trees and placement of the tombstones. Next to add some flare and a large creep factor you are going to want to possibly place either some fake bodies, and or fake body parts. Possibly a few skeletons or make it look like the dead are coming out of their graves. This will evolve every year and become more natural to create the scene.

Another aspect you may want to consider is fog, often adding fog allows for not only a spookier atmosphere but also adds to the scare factor as well because the fog partially obstructs the vision, which gets people nervous.

These are some of the basics for getting your Halloween graveyard started. You will get better and better at it every year and soon your yard haunt will become a neighborhood attraction every autumn!
