Every home faces the risk of termites entering and damaging the woodwork in the home, unless prior to construction, anti termite measures are adopted and built. For example, constructing termite barriers in the soil surrounding the foundation of the house, before the house is even built, is a good way to keep the termites out, at least for a few years, until the chemical action wears off.
Another way to prevent termites from coming is to install “stations” that contain termite bait. Termite baiting is using poisoned food as bait for the termites to eat, which will slowly kill them off. These poisonous baits act slowly, and can wipe out the entire termite colony over a period of several months. Also, they are quite cheap to setup and regarded as more environmentally friendly than other termite control methods.
Keeping your home area clear of termite attractants like wood piles, logs, or paper stacks is also a sensible way to reduce your home’s risk from being attacked by termites. As we all know, termites eat wood, so by having a lot of dead wood hanging around your garden or backyard is an open invitation for termites to come.
