Getting prepared for a holiday dinner, such as Christmas or Thanksgiving, should not be a major task if you know which are the essentials for your holiday table.

Stating to set the right mood, a floral centrepiece will work extremely well, along with candles spaced at regular intervals down the center of the table. Use accessories like napkin rings, candle holders or a table runner to indicate the theme of the party. But, no table would be complete without the holiday table linens and, the colour of them can be themed with the rest of the table decorations for the best effect. A white or cream linen table cloth and matching napkins usually provide the best background. The food should be the focal point of your table, so do not select a cloth with a busy pattern or print that will take away from what is on the menu.

You can still make a special and festive settng by using fun, over the top glittering accents, like adding a transparent, shimmering organza overlay, you would not use every day. Also, you may use natural items that are appropriate for the occasion like dried leaves and acorns for Thanksgiving or red holly for Christmas.
