Another of the little known secrets is the proper control of your soil pH. You can purchase an inexpensive pH test kit from your local garden center and test your soil.

Tomato plants grow in soil that has a pH of 6.0 – 6.8. If your soil’s pH is too low, you can raise it by spreading lime.
