Deciding on What Herbs to Plant In Your Garden

You’ve think you want to grow herbs in your garden. There are some questions you need to answer before you begin your herb garden. You are probably saying why does it matter, well different herbs are used for different purposes.

You need to decide how you are going to use the herbs. Are you going to use them as fresh or dried herbs in your meals? Going to make flavored oils or vinegars for gifts? Or are you going to use them to brew teas, pastes, or infusions to use for minor health conditions?

Let’s look at the different herbs to help you answer these questions.

Culinary Herbs- sometimes referred to as sweet herbs- are plants that have tender roots or ripe seeds.

Aromatic Herbs- as the name implies these are herbs that smell good-they are grown to be used as additives in perfumes, toilet waters and scents for linens.

Ornamental Herbs- These are herbs that are not only beautiful in color of their blossoms but the texture of the leaves and you never need to harvest them if you want them to enrich your garden.

Medicinal Herbs- hear again as the name implies these are herbs grown for their health benefits. Marshmallow root is used to soothe inflammations. Hyacinth is used as a diuretic, and yarrow is a fever remedy.
