There is a tendency these days to choose very neutral colors for our homes. That is not particularly bad thing, it is just that all homes tend to look alike after a while and those colors don’t work if you want to stamp your personality on the place. You can either get inspiration from the home and interior design magazines out on the market or just go window shopping around the interiors stores. There you will find so many colorful things that you will never go back to your boring neutrals again.
Take rugs for example. You can either choose a traditional green area rug in hunter green that goes with those neutral colors and look like every other house in your neighborhood or you can look at the wonderful lime green rugs in the stores and work an exciting color scheme around citrus colors. The neutrals might be safer but the citrus shades have a chance to mark out your interior as something special.
If you don’t find anything to inspire you to something that different then use the themes from the magazines or stores to pep up your look a bit. A Scandinavian style is rather in vogue right now possibly brought about by the growth of Ikea, and soft furnishings in muted blues and greens tone well with pale colored wooden furniture. Add a white chandelier as a gorgeous focus, for making the room look more enchanting. Or what about an exotic safari concept room with a leopard print chair, toning brown curtains and an exceptionally fashionable animal print area rug.
If all else fails, the minimal combination of white and black for the purpose of home decoration stays a leading fashion. Black area rugs look fabulous on white marble flooring, however if you’d like flooring that’s somewhat less costly you can find a variety of marble effect floor coverings available.
